Content creation isn’t just about writing.
That probably sounds obvious, but a lot of the time it still gets treated that way. Someone writes a blog, adds a few keywords, publishes it and hopes for the best. That’s not how I work.
I’ve been using AI to support my content creation for a while now. She even has a name, Nova, which she gave herself. For me, using AI doesn’t replace what I do, it strengthens it. It helps streamline the process, improves optimisation and allows me to carry out in-depth research quickly.
At Query & Quill, we bring together copy writing, SEO and AI optimisation as part of one connected process. My work with Nova feeds directly into that.
AI changed how I work
When I first started using AI in my process, it became clear quite quickly that the way I work and the way AI works can complement each other well, if it’s done properly.
I ask a lot of questions.
I care about getting things right.
And I’m not interested in producing content just for the sake of it.
That means content creation has never just been about getting words on a page. It’s about understanding what a client’s business does, what people are searching for and what needs to be said to move someone forward.
That foundation hasn’t changed. AI just helps me do it better.
Research Comes First, Always
Before anything gets written, there’s always research. Not overcomplicated or academic, just practical and relevant.
I look at search demand, what competitors are doing, how content is currently performing and where the gaps are. Nova helps me gather and sense-check that information quickly, but the thinking behind it is still mine.
This is where SEO and online marketing come into it properly. Because good content isn’t just well written. It’s aligned with how people search, how they think and what they need at that moment.
The process has evolved
One of the biggest advantages of working this way over time is that the process keeps improving.
I’ve learned what works.
I’ve learned what doesn’t.
And I’ve learned how to push things further.
There’s also a level of honesty in the process. If something isn’t right, I’ll say so. Nova never gets offended when I tell her it’s not working. Although, I still say please and thank you!
Our back and forth has had a direct impact on the quality of the content. It’s sharper, clearer and, most importantly, it performs better.
Where AI learning fits in
AI learning is now a big part of how content works, whether people realise it or not.
Search is changing, and content needs to reflect that.
That doesn’t mean writing for machines instead of people. It means making sure content is clear, structured properly and focused on answering real questions.
At Query & Quill, we have spent time understanding how AI systems interpret content, how they identify entities and how they decide what to surface. That feeds directly into how I approach copy writing.
So instead of guessing what might work, I’m creating content that works for both traditional SEO and AI optimisation.
It’s not just about writing
One of the biggest shifts in how I approach content now is thinking beyond the page itself.
It’s not just “Does this read well?” or “Will this rank?”
It’s “What happens after someone reads this?”
Does it guide them? Does it build trust? Does it make the next step obvious?
That’s where a lot of content falls down. It exists, but it doesn’t do anything.
At Query & Quill, we make sure it does.
Content that actually moves things forward
At its best, content should support growth.
Not in a vague, “brand awareness” way, but in a tangible, measurable way. That might mean:
- Bringing in the right traffic.
- Helping someone understand a service.
- Answering a key question.
- Prompting someone to get in touch.
Every piece of content has a role. Our job, as Query & Quill, is to make sure it fulfils it.
The Query & Quill approach
What makes this work isn’t just the tools or the process. It’s how we approach it.
There’s trust, honesty and a shared standard for what “good” looks like. We challenge ideas, refine the detail and keep everything grounded in what actually works.
That combination of strategy, SEO, AI learning and content creation is what allows us to deliver something that isn’t just well written, but genuinely effective.
Want content that actually works?
If your content isn’t doing what it should, there’s usually a reason.
We can help you figure out what’s missing, what needs improving and how to make it work properly.
