Welcome to our new website. We are Aimee and Irulan, aka the Query and the Quill. Starting our business together is genuinely exciting, and it came from a simple place, wanting to work together after years of solid friendship.
Colleagues. Friends. Business partners.
Aimee and I met working at a marketing agency many moons ago. We sat opposite each other, but our computer monitors were so big we couldn’t actually see one another. Most of our communication was done through hand gestures. C for coffee, T for tea, a little wave and occasionally a rude gesture.
Over time, that working relationship turned into a real friendship. Our conversations are always kind and supportive, but also brutally honest. We tell each other the truth.
And that is exactly what we bring to our work. We will be honest, in a kind way. We will be open about what we can and cannot achieve with your website. And we will always do what we say we are going to do.
We work in a very similar way and, more importantly, we care about the same things. Doing the work properly, not cutting corners and not hiding behind jargon. That is what built our friendship and what led us to start Query & Quill.
Why we set up Query & Quill
The problem is, a lot of SEO and content work looks impressive on the surface, but does not actually deliver much underneath.
You will often see detailed strategies, long reports and plenty of industry language, but when you step back and look at the results, they do not always match the effort that has gone in.
In reality, a lot of the basics get missed. What are people actually searching for? What do they need to see when they land on your site? And what is going to move them from browsing to getting in touch or buying? These are simple questions, but they are also the ones that tend to get overlooked.
At the same time, AI is reshaping how search works. People are no longer just clicking through a list of links, they are getting answers directly from search engines and AI tools. That changes what visibility looks like and it changes what good content needs to do.
